Readiness for upper secondary education

All pupils in form 8 in lower secondary education will be assessed for their readiness to attend upper secondary education.

Assessment for youth education

Your readiness will be assessed for vocational education and training (EUD), vocational education programme qualifying for access to higher education (EUX), and/or higher general, commercial or technical examination programmes (such as STX/HHX/HTX), and/or higher preparatory examination programmes (HF), and/or other educational activities aside from general upper secondary education.

Background for the assessment

Your skills provide the background for the assessment for upper secondary education programmes:

  • Your academic prerequisites are assessed on the basis of your term marks.
  • Your personal prerequisites are assessed on the foundation of your motivation for learning, your independence, stability in school attendance and your readiness for choosing an educational programme.
  • Your social prerequisites are assessed on the basis of your ability to cooperate, respect for and tolerance of others.
  • Your practice-based prerequisites are assessed on the basis of your practical skills, your knowledge of disciplines, your workshop skills and competencies in applying theory in practice.

Two readiness assessments in form 8

By the 1st of December the school needs to make the first readiness assessment of pupils in form 8. By January 10 the educational guidance counsellor (UU-vejleder) will have reviewed and potentially re-assessed the readiness assessment. By January 17th, the school needs to provide written feedback on the outcome of the readiness assessment to parents and pupils. You will receive information of what youth educational programmes you have been assessed as ready to attend. The readiness assessment will be visible in ung.unoung.dk (the database). In spring, the second readiness assessment will be carried out. All pupils who are assessed as not ready for one of more educational programmes will receive written feedback by the school.

Assessed as not ready for youth education

If you are assessed as not ready for your preferred youth educational programme, an individual transition plan will be made by the school, the educational guidance counsellor (UU-counsellor) and you and your family. The purpose of the plan is to initiate a specific and tailored school and counselling effort allowing you to develop professional, personal and social skills in order for you to become ready for youth education.
