Portfolio for choice of study

Your personal portfolio for your choice of study is part of your preparation for the choice of youth education after form 9 or potentially form 10.

In form 8 you will begin the classwork of completing your portfolio for choice of study, which continuously will be revised throughout form 8 and 9.

The purpose of the study portfolio

The preparations on the study portfolio are part of a learning process which will support you in choosing a study programme. It will help ensure that you choose upper secondary education based on thorough considerations.

The purpose is for you to develop skills needed to choose a direction of education. Amongst other things, you will:

  • Learn how to discover your possibilities
  • Learn how to gather and organize knowledge and experiences about education and jobs
  • Learn how to consider what is important especially for you
  • Learn how to reflect upon your skills and potentials
  • Acquire skills on how to make decisions on a thorough and informed basis.

Working on the portfolio for choice of study

Working on the portfolio for choice of study is based on guidance activities that you participate in during form 8 and 9. The task consists of continuously acquiring new experiences and reflecting upon them, for instance after participating in an introductory course, getting work experience, or visiting a company. Moreover, reflections can be based on the information about study programmes and jobs that you hear about during teaching and group guidance counselling or from your personal network.

Group guidance counselling and lessons in the subject Education and Jobs will support the work on the portfolio for choice of study.

The portfolio for choice of study needs to be attached to your application for an upper secondary education programme after form 9 or 10.
